Tell us about your business:

"When we opened Always In Stitches in August 2007, we wanted the shop to be a safe place for fiber artists to hang out, find inspiration, meet like-minded people, nurture their passion and enjoy all the goodness of fiber. Customers tell us almost daily that we've done that.

Our specialty is traditional quilting -- I have a particular fondness for patriotic colors, prints and designs -- yet the shop has become so much more. We're a Janome and HandiQuilter dealer, have a large yarn department, a fine selection of cross-stitch, a nice niche of wool, and even some tatting. The friendly staff has a wide range of experience that spans many, many years. We love special events, offering classes, and helping beginners through advanced needle artists develop their skills through classes or one-on-one assistance. We rent, repair and service machines, offer scissor sharpening, and were very proud to be featured in the Fall/Winter 2015 issue of Better Homes & Gardens Quilt Sampler magazine."

Tell us what you love about what you do:

"For me, it's all about the people.

I love seeing the look of satisfaction (or surprise)when a project is completed. Some of the quilters that made the Jacobean Journey or Sewn Seeds quilt were a little hesitant going in. And who could blame them? The look of pride when they brought in their finished quilts was priceless.

I love seeing new customers wander the shop, amazed at its size and variety of offerings, jaws dropping when they see some of the samples my talented co-workers have made, eyes sparking when they find the perfect fabric, a special project, a new fiber art.

I love watching how people who seemed a little intimidated on their first project gain the confidence to give "you can do this" encouragement and share "this is how I would do that" stories with the new fiber artists that start their journey here.

I love overhearing mothers and daughters of all ages making their bond a little stronger as they choose fabric, pick a pattern, find a solution to a problem, and laugh aloud."

What do you love about HoopSisters?

"When I saw my first HoopSisters quilt, I was immediately intrigued The way the intricate designs partner so beautifully with the smashing colors make you happy, make you pause and look a little longer, make you appreciate the careful work that went into making them.

I'm known to be a person who likes to create fun challenges and opportunities for others. In fact, that's what makes Always In Stitches a adventure for our customers. I see challenges and opportunities in every HoopSisters quilt."
